Help Us Promote E-bike Use!

Make Our Voices Heard in Washington D.C.

We at VoltRider™ think there's a tremendous opportunity to promote e-bikes in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The full text of the Act can be found at:

There are several areas that relate specifically to electric vehicles (but amazingly not e-bikes):

     1. The Act provides credits for the purchase of "...any new qualified plug-in electric drive motor vehicle..." (H.R. 1-212). The tax credits can be as great as $5,000 depending on vehicle specifications.

     2. The Act also provides $300 million dollars for "...capital expenditures and necessary expenses of acquiring motor vehicles with higher fuel economy, including: hybrid vehicles; electric vehicles; and commercially-available, plug-in hybrid vehicles..." (H.R. 1-36)

     3. "Provided further, That $2,000,000,000 shall be available for grants for the manufacturing of advanced batteries and components and the Secretary shall provide facility funding awards under this section to manufacturers of advanced battery systems and vehicle batteries that are produced in the United States, including advanced lithium ion batteries, hybrid electrical systems, component manufacturers, and software designers." (H.R. 1-24)

E-bikes like the VoltRider™ use advanced technologies including Lithium Ion batteries and are available NOW. Offering a tax credit to anyone purchasing an e-bike that meets specified criteria makes sense, will reduce pollution, and bring awareness to the potential of all electric vehicles.

We have sent e-mails to every member of the US Senate and House of Representatives urging inclusion of a tax credit for the purchase of e-bikes using Lithium Ion batteries in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Local government and corporations are realizing the advantage of promoting e-bike use. We support these programs and feel that they are a fun, healthy way to save money and go green. There are over 100 million e-bikes in use in China and over 7 million in Europe. Currently, it's estimated that there are less than 50,000 e-bikes in the U.S. so the potential for the VoltRider™ and other EVs in the States is huge, significantly decreasing pollution and our dependence on foreign oil.

Based on the above statistic, for every 10,000 VoltRiders™ being ridden 5 miles a day, instead of using a car, we will reduce CO2 emissions by 27.5 tons PER DAY!"

Our goal is to have 30,000 VoltRiders™ on the road by the end of 2011.

In doing so, we’ll also generate over 600,000 e-grins™ per day. Now that’s a welcome side effect!
